Free Webinar – Suicide and the Adolescent Brain

LMSPC will begin by examining the myths regarding adolescent suicide and the magnitude of the problem. We will explore the intersection between adolescent brain development, mental wellness and suicide risk.

This will be followed with a discussion regarding leading practices in suicide prevention including:

  1. risk and protective factors;

  2. evaluating risk;

  3. responding to youth at risk;

  4. building a safety plan;

  5. supportive strategies for youth and families.

This webinar will be facilitated by Heather Fredin BA, DAT, B.Ed, M.Ed Counselling Psychology.

Biography:

Heather Fredin is employed as a Registered Psychotherapist with the London Family Court Clinic. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology, a diploma in Art Therapy, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Heather has 17 yrs of counselling experience working with adolescents and adults in both individual counselling and group psychotherapy.
